Our Methodology

« When I decided that I wanted to spend two months in Paris jump starting my French language learning, I researched a number of language schools and programs. French As You Like It quickly rose to the top of my list because it provided small group intensive instruction with plenty of conversation. Once I started with FAYLI, I was so impressed that I extended my learning with them another two weeks. The instructors balanced encouragement with rigor, making me feel safe taking the risks listening and speaking that accelerate learning. I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to start conversing in French even with little or no previous experience in the language. » - Alex B

Our teachers

Our teachers are all experienced and qualified with a master’s degree and at least 3 years of experience. They create their own course content, adapted to each of their students, while following our syllabus based on the CECR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) language levels. They will create a joyful and friendly atmosphere in their classroom and are also ready to give you advice, recommendations for your French learning as well as cultural tips!

Our courses

You will receive a written and oral evaluation beforehand to place you in the group that best suits you. For private lessons, these assessments will also be to discuss your specific needs and goals.

Our group classes are small and have a maximum of 7 students so that each student can have a significant amount of time to speak. We focus on your speaking and listening skills to facilitate exchanges outside the classroom. Indeed, our courses are divided into three parts and include a grammar, oral or written comprehension and conversation to practice your newly acquired knowledge. The materials used are varied (videos, articles, recent French methods, games, etc.) and include authentic documents adapted to your level that will allow you to better understand and adapt to real-life situations.

To measure your progress, we offer a weekly evaluation, which is not graded, so you can review the grammar/vocabulary points you have studied during the week. Following these evaluations, your teacher will send you a non-exhaustive list of links, videos, etc. that you can consult independently. In addition, you will have the opportunity to hand in assignments that will be corrected by your teacher. This option is based on voluntary work, as we understand that you may have a busy schedule in Paris!

Our private classes can be anything you’d like them to be: whether you’d prefer to focus on speaking or getting a deeper knowledge of grammar and conjugation, we can help! Your teacher will adapt to your level, your learning style, and your needs.

All our sessions are 90 minutes minimum, which is enough time to study a subject in depth while keeping you focused and retaining the course content and information more easily.

And more

Weekly field trips are offered free of charge to connect with other learners and practice outside the classroom.
Students in private lessons can also meet their teacher outside of school to visit a museum, a café, a park, a neighborhood, etc.

For those who wish, there is the possibility to prepare for exams (DELF, DALF, TCF, TEF, CLOE), if you have a university or professional project, for example.
