Terms & Conditions

1. Payments and Booking

To reserve a place in a group course or to book private lessons, a deposit is required.

• For most group courses: minimum 50% of the total course fees.
• For Long-Stay Visa Programmes: the specific deposit indicated on the invoice (currently €2,500 / €3,500 / €4,500 depending on duration).
• For private lessons: payment of the full package or the first session(s) is required to confirm the booking.

The remaining balance is due before the start of the first lesson (or according to the instalment plan agreed for Visa Programmes).

Accepted payment methods: credit card, bank transfer, cash or cheque (in euros) at the school.

A one-off registration fee of €70 applies to Micro-Group Intensive Classes, Afternoon Communication Classes, Combination Packages and Children’s Group Courses. This fee is non-refundable and remains valid indefinitely once paid. It does not apply to Private Lessons, Online Lessons, Evening Classes or Long-Stay Visa Programmes.

2. Course Validity and Contract Duration

Private lesson packages and unused group course credits are valid for 12 months from the original course start date (unless otherwise stated).

Evening Class packages:

• 6-week package — valid for 3 months from the first class.
• 12-week package — valid for 6 months from the first class.

After the validity period expires, unused lessons or course credits cannot be refunded or extended, except in exceptional circumstances approved by FAYLI.

Unused private lesson credits and unused group course credits may be transferred to a friend or family member within the validity period.

3. Cancellation, Rescheduling and Refunds

Private Lessons & Online Lessons

• Free cancellation or rescheduling if notified at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time.
• Cancellations or no-shows with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged in full.

Group Courses (Morning Intensive Classes, Afternoon Communication Classes, Evening Classes, Children’s Group Courses and Combination Packages)

Before the course starts (excluding the non-refundable registration fee):

• 100% refund if cancelled at least 30 days before the start date.
• 75% refund if cancelled between 8 and 29 days before the start date.
• 50% refund if cancelled between 4 and 7 days before the start date.
• No refund if cancelled less than 4 days before the start date.

After the course has started:

• Once a course week has begun, the full week is due and payable, regardless of attendance, absence or early departure.
• If a student is unable to attend all or part of a booked week, no cash refund will be issued. Instead, the value of the missed group classes will be retained as a course credit valid for 12 months from the original course start date. This credit may be used by the student or transferred once to a friend or family member within the same validity period.

Long-Stay Visa Programmes

• Deposits are non-refundable once the official registration certificate has been issued (required for the visa application).
• Special conditions apply in the event of visa refusal (supporting documents required). Please contact us for details.
• Any week that has begun is due and payable in full, regardless of attendance.

General

• Course exchanges for another course of equal or higher value are possible (any price difference must be paid).
• In cases of serious unforeseen circumstances (medical reasons, force majeure, etc.), please contact us at [email protected]. We will review each request individually and do our best to find a fair solution.

4. Long-Stay Visa Programmes — Specific Conditions

• Programme durations are calculated in effective teaching weeks (e.g. a 12-month programme consists of 40 teaching weeks plus 12 weeks of holiday entitlement).
• Holiday weeks may be taken at any time with reasonable notice.
• Any week that has started is due and payable in full.

5. Punctuality

• If the teacher is late, the lost time will be made up at the end of the lesson or during a subsequent lesson.
• If the student is late, the teacher will wait for 20 minutes. After this time, the lesson is considered missed and cannot be refunded or rescheduled.

6. Public Holidays and School Closures

• The school is closed on French national holidays and during the Christmas period (exact dates are published annually).
• No refunds are given for lessons falling on these days. For group courses, replacement lessons will be offered whenever reasonably possible during the same week.
• Course fees cover the full enrolled period and are not prorated because of public holidays.

7. Class Location and Expenses

• Private lessons may take place at our campuses, at the student’s workplace or home, online, or occasionally in cafés, museums or other locations in Paris.
• When lessons take place outside the school, the student is responsible for both their own and the teacher’s reasonable expenses (for example coffee or museum entrance fees).
• At the school, water, tea and coffee are provided free of charge.

8. Insurance and Liability

• French As You Like It is insured by Allianz for its teaching activities.
• Parents or guardians of minors must sign a liability waiver for any outings.
• Students are strongly advised to take out their own travel and medical insurance covering the full duration of their stay.

9. Code of Conduct

• Students are expected to behave respectfully towards teachers, staff and other students.
• FAYLI reserves the right to refuse or discontinue lessons in cases of inappropriate behaviour, without refund.

10. Photography and Marketing

• FAYLI may use photographs or videos taken during courses for promotional purposes.
• If you do not wish to appear in such material, please inform us in writing at the time of registration.

11. Privacy

Personal data collected is used solely for the purpose of providing and managing your French courses and is kept confidential in accordance with applicable data protection regulations. For full details, see our Privacy & Cookies Policy.

12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

• These Terms and Conditions are governed by French law.
• Any dispute arising from these Terms and Conditions shall fall within the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Paris.
